Turf Tips
With cooler temperatures and increased moisture, cool season turf grass has started to recover from this summers high temperatures and dry conditions, Warm season turf grass such as "Zoisia" will start to turn brown and go dormant.
Fall IS the best time to get your lawn and landscape back into shape. Here are some recommendations you can do to help your lawn and landscape look its best.
FERTILIZATION
A quick release fertilizer is to be applied at this time to allow nutrients to be absorbed by grass plants for new leaf growth and better root development.
WEED CONTROL
This liquid herbicide is applied to your lawn where needed, Some lawns may be in need of a "blanket spray" if weeds are visible throughout the lawn. Remember weeds need to be actively growing to absorb herbicide and expire, growth will slow down as the weather cools, so don't wait to get that herbicide sprayed!
CORE AERATION
Fall is the BEST time to aerate your lawn. The most important result of aeration is to relieve soil compaction from this years mowing, and foot traffic. This will allow the soil to absorb more air, water, and nutrients resulting in a greener healthier lawn.
OVERSEEDING
Remember with seeding, soil contact is required, wether you follow up your aeration with an over seeding or rake and scratch soil in bare spots to be seeded make sure the seed can get into the soil. We can evaluate your lawn for you and make recommendations to get you the best results, and start building a healthier and thicker lawn for next year.
LEAF REMOVAL
As we approach fall remember it is very important to keep leaves from building up on your turf. Wether you have Louiso come weekly and mulch or remove your leaves, or you do this yourself, it is imperative that leaves are not left laying on turf areas for an extended amount of time.
LANDSCAPING
Don't forget the landscape!!!!! As winter approaches many of us tend to forget about our landscape plants, even though they aren't colorful or flowering at this time, it is the best time to fertilize, and corrective or dormant prune them to get these plants healthy, to ensure another great season next year. Give us a call to come make pruning and fertilization recommendations for your specific types of plants.
We are currently scheduling for fall and winter pruning and fertilization.
Want a new or updated look for next year? maybe add a new tree or privacy screen? The next three months are the best time to do so.
